How do I prepare and change the filter in my Brita Stream® pitcher or dispenser?
Brita Stream® Pitchers:
- Flush your new Brita Stream® Filter with cold water for 15 seconds.
- Insert the filter into the filter cage with the blue ring facing up. Press the filter until it clicks.
- Install the filter cage onto the lid with a firm twist.
- Activate the electronic indicator. Add cold tap water. Discard your first dispenser of filtered water or use it to water plants.
Brita Stream® Dispensers:
- Press the grey release button on the bottom of the spigot and twist counterclockwise to remove the spigot from the tank.
- Twist counterclockwise to remove the filter cage from the spigot. Remove and discard the black cover.
- Flush your new Brita Stream® Filter with cold water for 15 seconds.
- Insert the filter into the filter cage with the blue ring facing up. Press the filter until it clicks.
- Install the filter cage onto the spigot by twisting until it clicks.
- Insert the spigot back into the tank—align the notch at the top of the spigot face with the unlock symbol and twist clockwise until it clicks.
- Activate the SmartLight™ filter indicator.
- Attach the lid to the tank and slide the lid open. Add cold tap water. Discard your first dispenser of filtered water or use it to water plants.
How often should I change my Brita Stream® Filter?
Replace your Brita Stream® Filter every 40 gallons, or about every 2 months. If you have hard water, you may need to change filters more often. When you install a new filter, use your built-in electronic filter indicator or SmartLight™ filter indicator so you’ll know exactly when to replace it.
