How often should I change my filter refill?Replace your Brita Refillable Filter Refill (only the filter refill! Keep using the reusable shell!) every 40 gallons, or about every 2 months for most households. If you have hard water, you may need to change filter refills more often. When you replace your filter refill, use your built-in electronic filter indicator or sticker calendar indicator so you’ll know exactly when to replace it. How do I prepare and change the filter refill in my Brita® pitcher or dispenser?
- Remove the filter shell from the reservoir and dispose of your used filter refill.
- With clean hands, rinse new filter refill with cold water for 30 seconds.
- Insert refill into shell and secure lid.
- Insert filter shell below the line to seal. Press firmly to ensure the filter is secure.
- Fill the reservoir with cold tap water to max fill line.
- Pour out first 3 pitchers of filtered water or use it to water plants.
